watch this

He's done it. He crawls. For those of you to far away to see it, here's your moment.

daddy, it's dark outside

We've been talking lately about where to go next to take pictures to keep feeding our website (and our own voracious photographic appetites) and looking at other photo websites to rip off other people's locations. We got some good ideas and then, on a whim, we decided to leave at 3 a.m. Saturday morning and drive to Mono Lake. And this time we didn't wuss out and get a babysitter - we took the kid along like real parents.

Arriving at the lake at 6 a.m., all three of us bundled up in the pre-dawn chill and slogged through the frozen marsh to the lakeshore, picked out some likely-looking tufa formations, and started shooting. Abby got stranded on a rock surrounded by water, while I ran around with Grant on my back in the first rays of sunlight. That kid's gonna know how to use a camera before he can use a spoon.

Abby's pretty excited about her new photos...

i'm angry

So I've heard briefly on the news tonight that the VT killer sent a tape to the news in mid-spree. It outrages me that now any demented man can make a tape, kill some people, and then his psychotic message will be heard across the country and maybe even the world. WRONG. He doesn't have a voice to blame others. He doesn't have a voice at all. In my eyes he gave up that right when he took the voices of 32 other people. It's sad that the news puts out everything - even something so wrong as this - because it brings in viewers and money. If America makes a stand not to negotiate with terrorists (and this man is certainly not above terrorist status) I think we should also make a stand not to give them a voice in our society.

creative itch

Inside of me there is always an itch to do
something artistic.
Often before bed Tim hears me
screaming, "I want to make something!"
I'm not as good as I want to be but
at least I get out some of my
creative energy once in a while
with my camera and my photoshop.
And at least you all stop by and check it out
here on my blog or our website.
I forget that Grant's
hands and feet
will not always be so small.
I need better lighting in this house
but it was a fun little project.

the dummy downhill

Last Sunday we all headed up to Incline for pictures and Diamond Peak's Dummy Downhill. It didn't compare to Red Bull's Flugtag in Portland but it was still quite amusing! Next year we're making a dummy if anyone wants to join us.

And...not a lot of snow up there!
