roommate

This is Tim two months ago, with his awesome skills, adding some wall to make our den a bedroom - and we're already using it! We officially have a roommate. Her name is Crystal and she's from New Hampshire (where Tim is from). She moved to Reno and was told by one of Tim's old friends (who she met once at her church right before her move) to look us up. She found our blog (yay for blogs) and she found our church and wandered right into our lives. It was definitely a God thing. That was almost a year ago probably but recently she needed a place to stay and we were happy to give her the front room. We thought it was going to be short term but it's moving into longer term. It's scary to share your home with someone....or maybe just to make the commitment. But she fits in great and I know we are a blessing in her life. That was our goal when we moved into this house so it's awesome to really go through with it and serve the Lord in a new way. Tim and I believe we have an awesome family here and sharing it just makes sense.

Oh and she lived in New Zealand a year after we did so everyone around here is saying "no worries".

little shop

On Saturday Tim and I dropped Grant off at Mateo's house to play and we went out towards Pyramid Lake to climb. We took on "Little Shop of Horrors" the big wall pictured above...or part of it. It's insane. Most of the climbs on it are 5.13s (HARD) but we found a 5.10 (hard) We didn't make it to the top but it was fun to be challenged and no one was there which is our favorite thing about the spot. I realized all the climbing I'm doing indoors is not helping me all that much - but I guess I did everything Tim did so maybe it is....just not like I thought. But I love climbing inside because I get to hang out with girls I wouldn't otherwise and Tim watches the baby. I think climbing is going to be big for us this summer. But anyway I'm thankful for a husband I can climb with....or do whatever with. I think we're going to increase the adventure for a bit and decrease the art. We're tired of trying to capture the beauty of Nevada...it's out there, but....so is a lot of ugly stuff. I think we'll just enjoy it without our cameras for a while.

it's alex time!

Last year you might have heard about the Alex's Lemonade Stand I put on in Reno with my church Coram Deo. It's great to be a part of a church that really helps you do stuff to change the world instead of one that just yells as you. This year Coram Deo (Jose) is doing more then I am - can I get an AMEN!! We're plugging away at businesses getting, donations, raffle prizes, cups, lemonade, etc.

If you click the picture it will take you to the About Alex page. Read her story if you haven't already. And if you feel like you want to help here's how you can!

* I've uploaded my donation widget to the right so you can give if you live near or far
* If you're in Reno and feel the call to help let me know - we will need lots of lemonade servers for our stand - June 5th and 6th!
* If you don't have time to come and help out you can make your own fundraising page and add the widget to your website to rack up more donations - this is not just my stand or coram deo's stand - it's reno's stand!
* Or if you live in another state get the kids together and set up a stand yourself! It's fun - if you don't get businesses involved.

the laser crisis

I feel like I would write more if my invitation business would start going more smoothly.

For one - I'm a perfectionist and I don't like my old designs, I always want to make better stuff and take better pictures of my stuff....so it's a lot of work...though fun also at times.

And Two - I'm trying to switch to a laser printer. It's the joy or my life (when it's in the box) and the bane of my existence (when it's out of the box). I'm on my second one right now and it's going back in the box tonight. Maybe the third will work. If anyone has a laser printer let me know if they are supposed to suck or if it's just me. But now that I have my hopes up dreaming about not babysitting my inkjet all day for a large order I don't think I can go back. So that's why I'm tied up at the moment.

grant's first pet

I found out a month ago that Grant's favorite store is PetCo. It's next to Office Depot so when I go for supplies we now go in to see the "kitties". They don't really have any cats just rats and ferrets and such but we call them kitties for now. From the parking lot he always yells at the top of his lungs "MOW" as soon as he sees the kitty in the PetCo sign. So yes, he digs cats. Anyway Tim won't let us get a cat or a dog right now - he says it's because I'm allergic and I'll die but I still ask every once in a while. But since that front doesn't seem to be moving we started Grant small - we picked out 4 gold fish. They've lived almost a week now! I led Grant to the car by holding the bag of gold in front of him and he squealed and shuffled after it all the way through the store. So here they are - Grant's new little buddies - even though they kinda hate his loud yelling and glass tapping. They will get a bigger bowl as soon as we find another one for free somewhere.
