a big family christmas part I

We were very blessed to be together this Christmas with my parents and brothers. We've partied non stop for 3 days now and I'm very tired!

Best Quote: Grandma got Calli some awesome toys and she just kept yelling -
"DUDE how old are you? How old are you! You are SO smart!"
Because everyone knows - the older you are the smarter you are!

She finally got an ornament with her name on it!

christmas kittens

As we shopped for Rexx the lizard, Calli's longing for a cat just got stronger and stronger. Finally I snapped and I took Tim down with me. Here's what sent me over the edge:

Within 2 hours my mom and I were wandering down the aisles searching for them at the Humane Society. They were hidden in the back being cared for by the sweetest lady. I held Goose and they were nice and beautiful and could happily live in our garage. I was sold.

I had a genius plan to raise them in Mom's garage until Christmas but the space was too large and the wild came out of them quickly! After a few hours of panic we found DukDuk under the fridge. And then there was more panic and we found them behind the cabinets. And the we really really panicked when they were lost for hours. WE LOST CALLI"S CATS! But they turned up inside the snow blower which my Dad so kindly dismantled and then was immediately attacked by Goose.

So, yes, I had barn kittens on my hands!

But after hours locked with them (one at a time) in the bathroom they started to like me. And then I found out you could feed them baby food and then they really liked me.

After a week they were a lot more chill and that was the trend each week.

Goose is our "dog". Grant can scoop him up anytime but he won't stay in your lap. He wants to play!
DukDuk is our cuddler. She's hard to coax out, but once you have her, she melts into a furry purr pile for about 15 minutes. Their names have affectionately morphed into "Goose-Moose" and "Ducky Mo".  (backstory here)

Yes, they are in the house way too much but Tim has been patient as we train them and no one has severe allergies - Praise the Lord!

We're still taming and teaching them this is their home. We hope they stay around and safe for a very long time.  They are good little kittens - most of the time.
